The defending Summit League champion, South Dakota State Jackrabbits, have unveiled the 2013-14 men’s basketball schedule.
South Dakota State will play 13 games at Frost Arena, matchups that include Montana (November 14) and Belmont (December 14). The Belmont Bruins finished the 2012-13 season with a RPI of 24. Belmont lost its opening round of the NCAA Tournament (round of 64) to the Arizona Wildcats. Montana also had a RPI in the top 100 (82). The Grizzlies won the Big Sky in 2012-13, and also appeared in the NCAA Tournament, falling to Syracuse in the round of 64. A third team that finished with a RPI in the top 100 is Summit League newcomer, Denver, who visit Frost Arena on February 27. The Pioneers advanced to the second round of the NIT last season, and had a final RPI of 63.
The Jackrabbits will hit the road for quality games at Stanford (December 1), and Minnesota (December 10). South Dakota State will also visit Buffalo (January 3), now coached by former Duke Blue Devils and NBA guard Bobby Hurley.
San Diego will be the destination for South Dakota State for its regular season opener at the University of San Diego Tournament. The Jackrabbits will play the Torreros (November 8) and Loyola Marymount (November 9).
The Legends Classic will be played out in Brookings, South Dakota at Frost Arena November 25 and 26, with a field featuring the Jackrabbits, Lehigh, Texas Southern, and Howard.
